BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust has overtaken all other funds in its suite to become its most profitable exchange-traded product, generating approximately $244 million in fee revenue over the past year, analysts estimate. Its assets under management are approaching the $100 billion mark, driven by massive capital inflows into the spot Bitcoin ETF space.

IBIT has pulled in surging investor interest, with around $970 million flowing into it in a single trading session — the largest share of the $1.2 billion that U. S. spot Bitcoin ETFs collectively attracted that day. The fund now sits about $2.2 billion short of the $100 billion milestone, a level it is on track to cross more rapidly than any ETF in history.

That speed is notable: IBIT has amassed nearly $98–$100 billion in under 435 days, compared to Vanguard’s flagship S&P 500 ETF, which required over 2,000 days to reach the same threshold. This acceleration reflects investor appetite for regulated, exchange-traded access to digital assets.

BlackRock’s fee structure — currently 0.25% of AUM on IBIT — means that each incremental inflow directly boosts revenue. Analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart have identified IBIT as now bringing in more income than long-established heavyweights in BlackRock’s portfolio, such as the iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF and iShares MSCI EAFE ETF.

The inflow pattern underscores a broader shift. Since the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission authorised spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024, the category has seen multiple single-day inflows exceeding $1 billion. In several past instances, such inflow spikes have coincided with short-term peaks in Bitcoin’s price, raising questions among market watchers whether these are signs of a turning point.

Bitcoin itself has responded: it pushed past $125,000 this month, buoyed by demand for regulated crypto exposure and safe-haven demand amid macroeconomic pressures. This run-up in price further amplifies IBIT’s appeal, because asset growth happens both through net inflows and valuation gains on its holdings.

BlackRock is also deepening its Bitcoin product strategy. It has filed to create a Bitcoin Premium Income ETF, which would generate yield by selling covered call options on Bitcoin futures — a move aimed at appealing to yield-focused investors seeking regulated crypto exposure. BlackRock has avoided entering the altcoin ETF arena for now, focusing its efforts on Bitcoin-linked products where regulatory clarity is more established.

Still, the meteoric rise of IBIT carries risks. Fee compression remains a structural challenge across the ETF industry, and competitors are poised to launch rival crypto products. The volatility inherent in Bitcoin could reverse gains sharply. Moreover, regulatory shifts — whether through tax treatment, disclosure mandates, or limits on crypto exposure — could reshuffle the competitive landscape.

MetaMask is rolling out a new on-chain rewards programme that will allocate more than $30 million worth of LINEA tokens during its first season, offering “special benefits” to long-time users and bridging the move with the launch of its own token.

The wallet’s parent, Consensys, confirmed over the weekend that this initiative is not merely a farming scheme but a dedicated rewards system aimed at recognising consistent user engagement. The rewards package will include referral bonuses, incentives denominated in mUSD, exclusive partner rewards, and early token access. MetaMask emphasised that the campaign is built to reward habitual on-chain activity, not speculative intervention.

LINEA, the native token of Consensys’ Layer 2 network, was launched in September via a token generation event distributing roughly 9.4 billion tokens. By tying the MetaMask rewards system to LINEA, the firm aims to channel wallet activity toward its own roll-up infrastructure. The rewards plan positions MetaMask not just as an interface but as an active participant in building the Layer 2 ecosystem.

Joseph Lubin, CEO of Consensys and co-founder of Ethereum, described the rewards drive as a step toward redefining the MetaMask experience. He stated that the programme is a “genuine method of regularly giving back to our community” and stressed that long-time users—whom the team terms “OGs”—will receive priority consideration. This linkage is also viewed as a precursor to the upcoming MetaMask token, tentatively known as MASK, which Lubin first publicly referenced in September.

The broader strategy links three core components: MetaMask’s wallet, the mUSD stablecoin, and the LINEA network. The mUSD token, issued by Bridge, reportedly has a circulating supply of nearly $88 million. Participation in the rewards scheme is expected to stimulate usage across these components: swapping, bridging, stakes, and portfolio activity within MetaMask.

While the announcement lays out the broad contours of the rewards campaign, it leaves critical details unspecified. MetaMask has not yet revealed eligibility criteria by jurisdiction, and no clear anti-Sybil or bot-prevention measures have been announced. The absence of such safeguards has drawn scrutiny from observers concerned about gaming of reward systems.

Community reaction on X has been mixed. Some users welcomed the move as a long-awaited monetisation of loyalty, while others questioned whether the structure might favour larger holders or those in jurisdictions with favourable access. Some pointed to past programs in the crypto space that allowed special participants to disproportionately benefit.

Dubai Airports has announced an extended 10-year strategy aimed at transforming Dubai International and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum into the world’s most accessible and inclusive airports by 2035. The plan underscores a shift from enhancing infrastructure alone to driving cultural change, embedding empathy and user-centred design in every element of the passenger journey.

The strategy rests on three pillars: reinforcing existing accessibility frameworks, improving guest experience across every touchpoint, and elevating the airports’ status as global benchmarks in inclusive aviation. The commitment aligns with the UAE’s broader obligations to support the rights of People of Determination and Dubai’s ambition to become a disability-friendly city.

Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports, emphasised that accessibility is a “core pillar” rather than a peripheral initiative. He noted that, for the first time, the airport authority is co-creating programmes with the PoD community to redesign the passenger journey from their lived perspective. The launch coincides with the debut of a public awareness campaign called “DXB for All”, which presents six narratives of travellers with sensory sensitivities, mobility challenges, hearing or visual impairments, and highlights their airport experiences.

This new phase builds on the 2022 “We All Meet the World Differently” campaign. While that initiative focused primarily on raising awareness, the current strategy delves deeper by integrating accessibility into operations, staff training, and passenger interactions. Airport operators intend to cultivate empathy across staff, travellers, and the public, encouraging all stakeholders to reframe how they engage with PoD.

To facilitate inclusive travel, Dubai Airports already provides a suite of services: a Travel Planner visual guide, the Sunflower Lanyard to signal discreet assistance, free two-hour parking, dedicated taxis, wheelchair support from curb to gate, over 520 hearing loops across terminals, and a sensory-friendly Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2. These measures will be expanded and refined under the new strategy.

The initiative is being deployed through the “oneDXB” partnership network, which includes Emirates, flydubai, Dubai Police, GDIFA, Dubai Customs, dnata, Dubai Health, Dubai Duty Free, Serco, and other stakeholders. The collaborative structure ensures that airport services, security, passenger handling, health and taxi operations all align with inclusivity goals.

Challenges are considerable. DXB is already operating near capacity: in 2024 it handled 92.3 million passengers, its highest ever annual volume. That puts pressure on space, queueing, and infrastructure to adapt without undermining operational efficiency. Meanwhile, DWC is undergoing significant expansion—with a projected $35 billion investment to scale it toward handling up to 260 million passengers annually. Dubai Airports plans to shift major operations to DWC by 2032, adding urgency to ensuring that new terminals and systems are fully accessible from the start.

Cisco will unveil its latest innovations at GITEX GLOBAL 2025 in Dubai, aiming to equip enterprises across the Middle East and broader region with infrastructure built specifically for the AI era. The showcase focuses on AI-ready data centres, resilient network architectures, and strengthened security frameworks designed to support advanced workloads in data-intensive environments.

By joining the AI Infrastructure Partnership alongside BlackRock, Microsoft, NVIDIA, xAI and others, Cisco has committed to accelerating capital flows into datacentre and infrastructure projects. The partnership expects to unlock $30 billion in initial funding, scaling up to $100 billion including debt financing. Cisco brings its network, security and systems expertise to support the platform’s mission of secure, at-scale AI infrastructure.

At the heart of Cisco’s push is its new Cisco Data Fabric, launched in integration with Splunk, which provides federated data access across systems such as Amazon S3, Iceberg, Delta Lake and Snowflake, routing workloads intelligently to the best analytics or storage engine. This architecture is intended to reduce data movement, shorten analysis latency, and enable enterprises to transform machine data into AI-ready intelligence.

To support retrieval-augmented generation and agentic AI deployments, Cisco introduced the Secure AI Factory solution with NVIDIA and VAST Data. This validated architecture accelerates data extraction and retrieval at scale while enforcing security guardrails for every token processed. AI PODs built under this architecture offer pre-validated, high-performance building blocks for enterprise AI.

Networking and security are being redefined for the AI workload environment. At Cisco Live 2025, the company launched a next-generation network architecture for campus, branch and industrial environments, delivering unified management and devices purpose-built to support AI traffic patterns. It also introduced Hybrid Mesh Firewall and Universal Zero Trust Network Access to embed security into network fabric across hybrid and distributed environments. These features aim to simplify policy enforcement, improve visibility, and reduce complexity in securing both human users and AI agents.

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins disclosed that fiscal year 2025 saw record AI infrastructure orders. In its final quarter, the company secured over $800 million from webscale clients, bringing total AI-focused orders to more than $2 billion—more than double its initial target. He described the pipeline as steadily growing into “hundreds of millions” as enterprises demand scalable, secure solutions.

In the Middle East, Cisco plans to demonstrate the regional relevance of its technologies under the theme “Make AI Work for You.” According to Cisco’s new AI Readiness Index, a vast majority of organisations in the UAE expect to expand their data centre capacity for AI within five years. The company will also present its work with Splunk on security and observability platforms at the event.

Cisco’s collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s HUMAIN is intended to build out an open, scalable AI infrastructure ecosystem aligned with Vision 2030. The multi-year programme includes deployment of cloud-based AI infrastructure, joint research initiatives, and efforts to grow local talent and innovation. The partnership underscores Saudi ambitions to position itself as a global AI hub.

Cisco sees accelerating demand for network modernisation. Its internal research reports that 97 percent of IT leaders view modernised networks as critical to deploying AI, cloud and IoT workloads, and 98 percent rate secure networking as essential for growth. However, the same study notes that only 40 percent of organisations have begun deploying advanced segmentation or intelligent control, illustrating an execution gap.

To strengthen its AI strategy, Cisco also expanded its presence in Indonesia by signing a Letter of Intent with BRIN to develop AI and cybersecurity capabilities via its Country Digital Acceleration programme. The plan includes building an AI Centre of Excellence and delivering training in AI, security and networking to 500,000 Indonesians by 2030.

Splunk’s observability portfolio itself is being reworked to embrace agentic AI, deploying AI agents to automate tasks such as root cause detection, alert correlation and issue resolution. This is intended to lighten the operational burden on IT and engineering teams while driving real-time insight.

Filestack has launched a sweeping upgrade to its core platform, introducing a fully integrated Digital Asset Management system, a comprehensive Event Logger, and a revamped Filepicker 4.0 with advanced upload control features. The move is aimed at giving developers stronger tools to manage file workflows, versioning, and audit trails—all without building these systems from scratch. At the heart of the update is the DAM, which allows users […]

Telecom operator du and technology vendor Nokia have completed a trial of an artificial intelligence–driven automation system aimed at simplifying and expediting the expansion and management of optical networks in the UAE.

The deployment tested Nokia’s WaveSuite AI, which combines traditional AI methods with generative models to assist du engineers with tasks such as planning, troubleshooting and documentation retrieval. The trial reportedly halved the time needed for optical network planning and produced designs 30 percent more efficient, while reducing errors during deployment.

During the trial, du’s engineering team used a single natural language interface to query live network status, access accurate documentation instantly, and simulate potential network evolutions. The system flagged possible inconsistencies or conflicting configurations early, allowing corrective adjustment before full-scale rollout. According to du, the result was faster troubleshooting, fewer manual errors and improved resource utilisation.

Saleem AlBlooshi, chief technology officer at du, said the trial “shows how innovation can transform network operations to face challenges brought on by increasingly sophisticated networks and ever-higher traffic volumes.” He emphasised that the automation of routine tasks and provision of intelligent tools would lead to more reliable, SLA-backed connectivity for customers.

From Nokia’s standpoint, Ron Johnson, senior vice president and general manager of Optical Networks, called WaveSuite AI “a demonstration of the real value of automation solutions with both classical and generative AI for optical networking.” He noted that the system reduces friction in planning, documentation search, and operational processes, and helps service providers accelerate provisioning of higher-speed, more reliable services.

The trial builds on du’s broader effort to embed AI and automation more deeply across its systems. Earlier this year, du partnered with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University’s 6G Research Center and the ITU to launch an “Arabic Telecom LLM,” a large language model tailored for internal telecom operations. That model is designed to handle internal workflows, resolve device issues, process complaints and provide operational insights in Arabic and English. The initiative is part of du’s strategy to blend regional research leadership and global AI tools while retaining language and cultural fidelity in its operations.

This AI-driven automation trial comes amid growing pressures on telecom operators worldwide to scale quickly to meet surging demand for bandwidth, driven by AI workloads, data centers and new real-time applications. As networks grow in complexity, manual processes no longer scale efficiently, pushing operators into an era of closed-loop or autonomous operations. Nokia, in its public literature, frames network automation as essential to reducing manual intervention, improving performance and enabling faster service delivery across domains such as core, mobile, IP and optical networks.

In the UAE context, this trial signals du’s ambition to advance its optical infrastructure ahead of demand peaks, while benchmarking its operations for future 6G readiness. The success of automation in planning and deployment could reduce operational costs, increase agility, and support more complex services such as network slicing, ultra-low latency applications and differentiated service tiers.

The Labour Fund, Tamkeen, has confirmed it will organise the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, featuring 14 Bahraini technology start-ups and small and medium enterprises alongside the Economic Development Board and ARRAY Innovations.

The event, scheduled from 13 to 17 October 2025, promises to provide the participating firms with access to global investors, partners and industry networks. The pavilion’s aim is explicit: to boost the international visibility of Bahrain’s ICT ecosystem and facilitate business growth.

Tamkeen’s announcement places it firmly in a leadership role for the pavilion’s curation and operations. The decision aligns with its 2025 strategic priorities, which emphasise supporting enterprise growth, promoting digitalisation, strengthening private-sector competitiveness and fostering sustainability.

Officials from Tamkeen and the Economic Development Board have highlighted that the selection of the 14 entities spans multiple subsectors within ICT, including software, data analytics, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. They say the mix is intended to reflect both Bahrain’s current strengths and its ambitions for diversification.

In past editions of GITEX, Bahrain’s pavilion drew attention from regional and international delegations. During GITEX Global 2024, the pavilion was credited with facilitating multiple memoranda and partnership discussions. Tamkeen’s continued involvement signals its belief that sustained pavilion presence is critical to maintaining momentum in Bahrain’s tech diplomacy.

Some observers note that Bahrain’s tech infrastructure and regulatory environment are increasingly seen as competitive in the Gulf region. Over the past few years, the kingdom has liberalised foreign ownership rules in certain sectors and introduced incentives for startups and innovation funds. This pavilion engagement is viewed by analysts as part of a broader soft-power strategy to position Bahrain as a hub for digital investment.

However, challenges remain. For many Bahraini startups, scaling beyond domestic markets continues to be difficult. Access to international capital, navigating cross-jurisdictional regulation, and building brand recognition are persistent hurdles. Critics caution that pavilion exposure does not always translate into long-term market entry, and that stronger post-exhibition support is needed to ensure sustained growth.

Tamkeen has stated that it plans to accompany pavilion exposure with mentorship, investor matchmaking and export facilitation services for participating firms. The hope is that a combination of showcase visibility and structural support will help convert leads into lasting collaborations.

Already, the pavilion has generated interest among regional stakeholders. Several Gulf regional delegations and venture capital firms have expressed intent to engage with Bahrain’s teams during the event. The EDB is reportedly coordinating bilateral sessions between Bahrain’s entrants and visiting foreign trade missions.

For the 2025 edition, organisers have introduced a more structured schedule for pitch sessions, one-on-one meetings and thematic forums. This signals learning from past editions, where informal networking sometimes overshadowed targeted client engagement. Tamkeen officials have emphasised tighter alignment of startup offerings with investor interest sectors like fintech, AI and cloud services.

Within Bahrain’s domestic ecosystem, private sector associations and incubators have welcomed the announcement. Some have pushed for better curation, arguing that selecting firms with proven traction or clear roadmaps increases the chance that pavilion participation yields concrete contracts or investment.

Google has chosen Saudi startup Lahint for inclusion in its Growth Academy: AI for GovTech 2025 cohort, positioning the company among 24 global government-technology innovators supported by Google. The move aims to strengthen Lahint’s capacity to deliver AI-enabled public services and further Saudi Arabia’s push for digital transformation under Vision 2030.

Lahint, established in 2023 by Ahmed Saber and Mohamed Ibrahim, secured a $1 million pre-seed investment earlier this year to scale its AI and automation offerings in government services. The platform currently manages more than 60 digital government services and serves over 200 businesses, integrating robotic process automation and AI to streamline licensing, permits and administrative workflows.

By integrating Lahint into its accelerator, Google pledges technical support, mentorship and access to cloud infrastructure—tools that could accelerate Lahint’s roadmap to full automation of priority public services. Lahint has already earned multiple ISO certifications and is accredited by the Saudi Data & AI Authority with a Waee badge for AI ethics compliance.

Lahint has advanced its internal timeline for key automation milestones. The company is now targeting completion of its GovTech automation program by early 2026, a shift from an earlier 2027 target. This acceleration comes alongside newly signed partnerships with government entities to deploy real-time status reporting and predictive compliance tools covering domain areas such as licensing, taxation and corporate registration.

Saudi Arabia’s broader AI landscape is scaling rapidly. In 2025, the kingdom announced over $14.9 billion in investments at LEAP and pursued MoUs under SDAIA to reinforce its data and AI infrastructure. The establishment of HUMAIN, a state-backed AI company under the Public Investment Fund, is central to that strategy. HUMAIN, launched in May 2025, has already inked collaboration agreements with Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm to develop AI factories and Arabic large language models.

Google’s AI programme in Saudi Arabia is part of a wider arrangement. A $10 billion joint investment by Google Cloud and the Public Investment Fund backs a national AI hub to reinforce the local ecosystem and serve regional demand.

Logitech will unveil a range of AI-enabled collaboration tools at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai from 13 to 17 October, aiming to show how hardware and software can merge to support hybrid and human-centred work environments.

Under its “AI-Enabled Collaboration” theme, the company plans live demonstrations of its next-generation video conferencing, audio, and workspace peripherals. These products are designed to deliver equitable meeting experiences, seamless plug-and-play deployment, and sustainability throughout the product lifecycle.

Murad Ali, Head of GCC for Logitech for Business, says GITEX offers a stage to highlight innovations in “smart collaboration” that address evolving work trends in the Middle East, and that the company is committed to sustainable design practices. Logitech will host customers and partners at its Hall 3-C30 booth to showcase these developments.

A key highlight is the Rally Board 65, an all-in-one mobile conferencing device tailored to simplify complex meetings. The system combines a 65-inch touchscreen with built-in AI features such as RightSight 2 auto-framing, Depth Blur to reduce visual distractions, and sensors that measure occupancy and room health parameters. When unused, it can automatically shift into a lower power state to conserve energy—part of Logitech’s drive to embed sustainability into its hardware.

Logitech’s approach is underscored by statements from Moninder Jain, VP & Head of Global Emerging Markets. He notes that Logitech views AI not merely as a productivity tool, but as a means to deliver “more equitable collaboration experiences.” According to him, AI is embedded in features that equalise participation between in-room and remote contributors, including consistent audio/video quality, auto framing, and cloud-based device management that lets users carry settings across devices.

In recent months, Logitech has pushed AI integration further across its product lines. It has expanded its portfolio of Intel Evo-verified peripherals, reinforcing its strategy to support high-performance, low-latency user experiences. The company continues to evolve its Rally and video bar offerings, embedding AI to enhance meeting dynamics and reduce friction for IT teams managing hybrid environments.

Logitech’s sustainability credentials also receive attention in its corporate activities. The company’s “Future Positive” programme continues to support innovation in circular design. Past initiatives include collaborations on AI-powered e-waste recycling bins and exploration of alternative magnet materials to reduce reliance on rare earth elements.

BitMine Immersion Technologies has disclosed crypto and cash holdings amounting to $13.4 billion, with 2,830,151 ETH tokens forming the bulk of its position, according to its latest statement.

The company’s portfolio also includes 192 Bitcoin, $113 million in “moonshot” equity investments such as Eightco Holdings, and $456 million in unencumbered cash, positioning it as one of the largest public crypto treasuries by ETH exposure.

BitMine’s ETH stash represents roughly 2 percent of total Ethereum supply, underscoring the firm’s aggressive accumulation strategy. In its announcement, the company reaffirmed its ambition to reach a “5 percent alchemy” threshold—i. e., to hold 5 percent of ETH’s total circulation.

Thomas “Tom” Lee of Fundstrat, chairman of BitMine, framed ETH as the “premier choice” for its reliability, 100 percent uptime, and alignment with institutional and AI adoption in blockchain infrastructure. He argued that as Wall Street and AI increasingly anchor on the blockchain, Ethereum offers structural advantage.

The disclosed holdings mark a dramatic acceleration in BitMine’s pivot from bitcoin mining toward becoming a major Ethereum treasury vehicle. The firm claims it now leads all publicly traded companies in ETH holdings, and ranks second globally in treasury scale behind Strategy, Inc.

Investors and markets responded swiftly to BitMine’s disclosures and related developments. In July, shares soared following a regulatory filing revealing that Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund had taken a 9.1 percent stake in the company, making him its largest known institutional shareholder. That news helped drive BitMine’s stock to near-record intraday gains.

Analysts view the firm’s strategy as part of a broader trend: smaller-cap crypto and blockchain firms are increasingly diversifying beyond bitcoin into ETH-focused treasury allocations. BitMine’s velocity of accumulation and the high liquidity of its stock have drawn comparisons to Michael Saylor’s bitcoin strategy at MicroStrategy.

Regulatory and market timing factors may amplify or constrain BitMine’s ambition. The U. S. SEC’s evolving posture toward digital asset teams—including Project Crypto and the so-called “GENIUS Act” proposals—could shape the framing of Ethereum as a mainstream institutional asset, or alternatively intensify scrutiny of crypto treasury holdings.

Sceptics point to concentration risk and valuation vulnerability. Holding such a large share of a single token leaves BitMine exposed to ETH price swings, smart contract risks, network upgrades, and macro-crypto sentiment downturns. As the firm presses toward its 5 percent goal, it will also face growing attention from regulators, market participants, and the Ethereum community around centralisation concerns.

Still, BitMine’s approach stands out for its bold scale and speed. The company argues that the “power law benefits” favour large holders of ETH, and that a discount between ETH price and its future utility—particularly under rising AI and blockchain convergence narratives—makes accumulation compelling.

Lagos welcomed commissioners for Innovation, Science and Technology from states across Nigeria to a high-level roundtable held under the aegis of the GITEX Africa tech gathering. The objective: align digital agendas, forge inter-state partnerships, and drive inclusive growth in a rapidly evolving ICT landscape.

The meeting convened key figures including Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, and Lagos Commissioner Olatunbosun Alake, together with commissioners from Enugu, Cross River, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, Yobe, Nasarawa, Ogun, Niger, Plateau, Borno, Zamfara and Ondo. Lagos State’s Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Science and Technology, Ibilola Kasunmu, also participated in framing the discussions. Observers noted that the roundtable sought to embed state-level digital initiatives into Nigeria’s broader national strategy.

Alake emphasised Lagos’s ambition to serve as a model for digital infrastructure, talent development and regulatory innovation. He proposed that states engage in exchange programmes, technical cooperation, and peer learning in domains ranging from broadband deployment to digital skills training. Salisu urged the participants to tie ICT plans to each state’s development priorities—education, healthcare, finance—to ensure sustained political will and funding. He flagged work underway in the National Assembly on bills to strengthen cybersecurity, data protection, and innovation regulation.

The roundtable in Lagos marks a shift toward greater coordination among sub-national actors in Nigeria’s digital transition. Until now, many states have pursued ICT policies in isolation, often duplicating efforts or confronting resource gaps. This initiative signals more strategic collaboration.

Beyond the roundtable, Lagos reiterated its commitment to leading the digital transformation. The state has pledged to sustain investment in fibre networks, smart city systems, regulatory reform and innovation hubs. Officials announced that Lagos will increase support for start-ups through grants, incubators and mentorship programmes. The state also seeks to broker partnerships between academic institutions, the private sector and state governments to expand capacity in AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity.

Voices from attending states expressed cautious optimism. Cross River’s commissioner described the roundtable as “the first step toward removing silos” and noted plans to adopt digital identity and analytics platforms in her jurisdiction. Enugu’s commissioner underscored the need for shared platforms rather than bespoke solutions in each state, to reduce costs and foster interoperability.

iFLYTEK is stepping up its engagement in the Middle East, unveiling two flagship AI products at GITEX 2025 in Dubai as part of a broader strategy to localise its offerings and anchor its presence in the region.

The company’s showcase spans three core portfolios—AI Translation, AI Infrastructure and AI Solutions—tailored for Gulf markets, with particular emphasis on Arabic dialect support and secure deployment. Among the new offerings is the AI Translation Earbuds, designed to enable seamless multilingual communication, and the e-ink AINote 2 work device, both making their global debut at the event. The debut underscores iFLYTEK’s intent to go beyond product marketing, emphasising solutions that address regional business needs.

Vincent Zhan, Vice President of iFLYTEK, asserted that the company is focused “to deliver intelligent solutions that address real business challenges” rather than merely present tech demonstrations. The firm has already placed a local team in Dubai to oversee deployment, maintenance, and customer support. It also customised algorithms to handle multiple Arabic dialects, expecting that linguistic responsiveness will differentiate it from global rivals.

iFLYTEK’s portfolio for the event includes the Spark WallEX system, designed for intelligent space management, along with Spark Smart Blackboard and Spark GuideX. The firm says these are engineered to support a range of sectors, including education, healthcare, enterprise operations and government. Its “All-in-One AI Solution” is positioned as a secure infrastructure package for organisations seeking turnkey AI adoption.

The Middle East expansion is part of a larger international push. Outside Asia, iFLYTEK is targeting Europe, as trade tensions and regulatory pressures create incentives to diversify markets. It is reportedly planning offices in France and Hungary, with growth ambitions in Spain and Italy. In March 2025, Zhan cited tariffs in the US as influencing iFLYTEK’s decision to look more aggressively into Europe and the Gulf.

China’s AI giant also faces headwinds. It was placed on a US trade blacklist in 2019, making procurement of certain high-end components dependent on US approvals. To mitigate vulnerability, iFLYTEK has shifted many of its models to Huawei’s chip platforms. It developed its Xinghuo X1 large language model in partnership with Huawei, reportedly running entirely on domestic chips. The firm claims to have pushed chip efficiency from 20 per cent to nearly 80 per cent of equivalent U. S. hardware, though Huawei leadership acknowledges that domestic chips still lag behind by a generation.

Market observers note that iFLYTEK’s shift toward the Gulf aligns with governments in the UAE and Saudi Arabia pushing AI-first national strategies. However, the company must navigate regulatory, data residency and market competition risks. In the Gulf, local AI and language processing firms are emerging, and global players like Amazon and Microsoft are pressing deeper into the region.

iFLYTEK’s presence at major global events is integral to its positioning. In July 2025, at MWC Shanghai, it launched the Spark All-in-One AI Machine and Dual-Screen Translator 2.0—capable of handling translation across dozens of languages—to reinforce its push into enterprise AI. The company has also rolled out smart products such as the AINOTE Air 2 across Asia and Gulf markets, with strong uptake in multilingual productivity segments.

OPEC+ delegates are weighing two divergent paths for November oil quotas: a modest lift mirroring October’s 137,000 barrels per day increase or a more aggressive jump, possibly two to three times larger. Diplomatic and market pressures appear to be pulling members in different directions.

Ahead of Sunday’s formal meeting, one source familiar with the deliberations described 137,000 bpd as the “base case,” replicating this month’s incremental pace. A second source, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated that under more aggressive assumptions the group may opt for increases of 280,000 bpd or even 400,000 bpd. Those in favour of larger hikes argue that strengthening demand and constrained Russian output justify a bolder step.

Analysts are aligning with the moderate view. Goldman Sachs, for instance, projects a November quota increase of around 140,000 bpd, citing tight inventory levels in Asia and Europe and declining U. S. crude stockpiles. Pressure for a more substantial increase, however, is mounting given elevated oil prices and a desire among key producers to reclaim or expand market share.

During a meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee this week, OPEC+ emphasised full compliance with output agreements, urging shirking members to compensate for previous breaches. While the JMMC lacks decision-making power on quotas, it retains the ability to summon full OPEC+ sessions if necessary. This move underscores growing unease about cohesion ahead of the upcoming vote.

Market reaction has already shown sensitivity. Oil prices—which had climbed amid tight supply forecasts—slid more than 3 per cent early this week as traders factored in the possibility of an oversupplied market if OPEC+ moves decisively upward. Further pressure arrived as Iraq’s Kurdistan region resumed exports to Turkey, adding to short-term supply. Expectations of a November increase of at least 137,000 bpd have also fed concerns about potential gluts.

Saudi Arabia is anticipated to respond to this industrial backdrop by raising its official selling prices for November crude to Asia. Refining sources suggest increases of 20–40 cents per barrel for Arab Light, and larger bumps for heavier grades—moves intended to optimise returns amid the shifted supply landscape. Observers note, however, that these pricing adjustments may be constrained by growing global volumes and rising freight costs.

Within OPEC+ circles, some major players favour the status quo increment. They caution that a more aggressive hike could undermine prices and strain discipline among reluctant members. Others view a bold move as an opportunity to reshape global oil dynamics—forcing non-allied producers to respond and reasserting the cohesion and influence of the alliance.

Russia is under particular scrutiny. Its output has been running below forecasts, and further declines—coupled with Western sanctions and infrastructure disruptions—are cited by several sources as a justification for a larger quota increase across the group. Still, Moscow’s appetite for more substantial volume gains remains unclear, balancing revenue interests with geopolitical strategy.
